Terms of Service
Pocket Photographer connects travellers and locals with casual local photo buddies in Amsterdam, Lisbon and Paris. By creating an account or booking a session, you agree to these terms.
What Pocket Photographer is
We're a booking platform — we introduce you to a photo buddy, handle payment for the session, and pay your photo buddy out afterwards. What happens during the session itself — the shoot, the photos — is between the two of you.
Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older to book or offer a session.
- The details on your profile (name, photos, KYC documents if you apply as a buddy) must be genuinely yours and accurate.
- One account per person. Accounts are personal and shouldn't be shared or transferred.
Booking and payment
- You pay in the app, through our payment processor, at the price shown when you book. A card is only held when you send a booking request, and is charged when your photo buddy accepts. If the request is declined, cancelled or expires, the hold is released and you pay nothing.
- The total shown when you book is the photo buddy's price plus a 15% service fee, which we keep to run the platform. Photo buddies receive their price minus a 10% platform fee.
- Pocket Photographer never sees or stores your full card number. Your photo buddy is paid out afterwards; we don't hand cash between you.
- Cancelling before a session starts gets you a full refund. Repeatedly cancelling or not showing up may limit your ability to book or accept sessions in future.
The meetup-code check
Sessions only start once both sides confirm they've actually met, using the in-app meetup code. Never share your code with anyone before you've met them in person — it's the one thing that confirms a session is genuine.
Becoming a photo buddy
- Applications are reviewed by our team before you can accept bookings. We ask for a government ID at this step to help confirm who you are.
- You set your own price and the styles of photography you offer.
- You're responsible for the photos you deliver being genuinely yours, taken during the session, and delivered within the time you agreed.
Your photos
- Your photos are always delivered in the app. You can also ask your photo buddy to AirDrop them to you at the end of the session (iPhone only); they are still saved in the app, so you keep a copy.
- The photos from your session are yours. A photo buddy may show a photo from a session in their public portfolio only if you say yes at the end of the session. You can change your mind at any time, and the photos are then removed from their portfolio.
Behaviour we don't allow
- Taking payment or contact details off the platform to avoid the safety checks built into a booking.
- Harassment, discrimination, or unsafe conduct toward another user.
- Fake reviews, fake availability, or misrepresenting who you are.
- Using the app for anything illegal, or to photograph anyone without their consent.
We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, with or without notice, depending on how serious it is.
Safety
Meeting someone from the internet always carries some risk, even with the checks we build in — the meetup code, the emergency screen, the report and dispute tools. Use your own judgement: meet in public, tell someone where you're going, and use the in-app Emergency screen if something feels wrong.
Disputes
If a session doesn't go as agreed — missing photos, a no-show, conduct that broke these terms — open a dispute from the booking within the window shown on that booking. We'll look at what both sides say before deciding what's fair.
Liability
We do our best to check who's on the platform (manual application review for buddies) but we can't guarantee every interaction goes well. To the extent the law allows, Pocket Photographer isn't liable for what happens during a session between you and another user — our role is the booking, the safety tools, and reviewing reports afterward.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll show you a notice in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
